On November 22, Dr. Deiter Wegener, VP, Advanced Technologies & Standards, Siemens AG, Munich, Germany was the invited lecturer at Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) Industry 4.0 Seminar to learn more about how Industry 4.0 can advance manufacturing in today’s competitive landscape.
The event was co-hosted with ventureLAB and held at the IBM Innovation Space – Markham Convergence Centre.
- Industry 4.0 Strategy
- Implementation processes
- Siemens’ best practices
According to Dr. Wegener, “industry 4.0 is not only about connecting manufacturing with the business side. Digitizing the product via simulation technologies will lead to a faster, cheaper, better product”. Dr. Wegener presented the three dimensions of Industry 4.0; smart factories and smart products (referred to as the digital twin) and smart services.
How can I digitize my value-added chain?
Which products or services should be digitized?
From digitization, what new business models can I offer my customers?
Following the lecture, Jason Meyers, Principal, Jayson Meyers Public Affairs and David Fransen, Special Advisor to the President, National Research Council Canada sat down for a fireside chat with Dr. Wegener to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing Ontario’s manufacturing and tech sectors.
