TORONTO, ON -SEPTEMBER 17, 2020 – REMAP was honoured to be recognized among many Canadian leaders at the Canadian Manufacturing Magazine, Responding to COVID: Industry Leadership Honours event for its response to the global pandemic. Manufacturers and their workforces were among the attendees that participated in the Canadian Manufacturing, PLANT and EP&T magazine's virtual gala event Sept. 17, 2020 at 11 am ET. At the virtual event, REMAP was named one of three Finalists across Canada in the ‘Services’ category for the company that made the most significant or novel impact through providing services to manufacturers, other businesses or the public.
The event called for manufacturers from across the country to describe how they contributed their talents to help out Canada during a time of great need, by producing personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitizer, ventilators and other crucial products and services to aid in the country’s pandemic response.
Businesses came together to drastically alter their operations, acquire new equipment and/or establish new production lines to accommodate the making of needed products. Others created entirely new products, novel innovations to help detect the virus, stop its spread or kill it entirely. Healthcare product manufacturers meanwhile moved up production schedules and product launches, and found ways for their existing products to help combat COVID-19.
For its contribution, REMAP recognized that, the time is now! Last March, REMAP launched a 60k COVID-19 Emergency Seed Fund. The fund helped our partners pivot their operations to advance products or processes to meet the critical needs identified by the Government of Canada. REMAP shares this honour with its COVID-19 Emergency Seed Fund recipient heroes and their partners.
I was very impressed by REMAP’s dedication to using the resources at their disposal to create as much positive impact as possible. Very often in life, people decide not to do something because they don’t feel they have a large enough platform to make a difference. REMAP serves as an example that commitment and passion towards a cause is more than enough to make a strong impact in other people’s lives, and I hope others hear their story and gain a similar inspiration.
