Sensor Technology for Extreme Sensing

Advancements in sensor technology are welcome advancements, where data from extreme environments are required. Our collaborative model enabled FIBOS to commercialize a competitively priced product with high accuracy.

Industrial Sensor Technology

ReMAP 011, FIBOS Advanced Optical Measurements focuses on creating an optical sensing platform enabling customers to safely collect data in harsh environments. They will replace conventional sensors, with the ability to take measurements in environments deemed hazardous, inaccessible, or volatile.InsightaaS.com attended this years AGM, showcasing ReMAP’s award-winning projects. They examined industrial applications of sensor technology and here is what they had to say.ReMAP 011FIBOS Advanced Optical MeasurementsThe collaboration between Fibos, Celestica and Ryerson University has produced a transducer (sensor) based on optical gauge amplifier technologies that deliver accurate measurements and performs well in extreme and toxic environments, such as that found in the oil and gas industry. The team has achieved shipment of 150,000 units this year and is developing its channel strategy to drive distribution. In recognition of the compelling business case developed by the team, ReMAP awarded the 011 project top honours in the Commercialization Prize 2017 contest. Fibos was awarded the OCE GlobalStart fund, providing vouchers to Ontario-based, youth-led start-ups to gain access to global markets. Fibos will begin exploring international markets for their optical sensing solution with this grant. In November 2017 Fibos was pleased to announce their first unit shipped.
